- The essence of Austin, from Janis Joplin to Willie you know who. This is Threadgill’s World Hdqts, now inside the original Armadillo World Headquarters Concert Hall and Beer Garden, 1970-1990.
- atstanleyOctober 27, 2011Top tip is incorrect. Armadillo World Headquarters was next door; but AWH's spirit lives on in the art on the walls and in TWH's beer garden when the music gets under way.

- Their sides are almost universally excellent. If I were to ever "leave" my wife, she knows she can find me in a giant vat of their Scalloped Potatoes.
- CultureMap AustinJuly 7, 2011Second helpings of vegetable sides (we're looking at you too, mac & cheese) are free, so remind your waiter or waitress when you're cravin' fried pickles.

- Robert CapazziJune 2, 2013Honestly I had the chicken fried steak, not sure why everyone is saying it is the best in Austin. To me it is just Average. It's very plain with not much taste. But the walls are cool.

- J JohnJune 24, 2014Just because social media & their menu boast about the chicken fried steak, doesn't mean it's good. It was bland, too salty and the gravy was just awful. Good bar service though.

- They offer free seconds on veggies if you ask. And yes, mac and cheese is a vegetable here.

- GOODMarch 4, 2010Interesting: this building used to be the home of the Armadillo World Headquarters as one of the early catalysts of the Austin music scene. Janis Joplin got her start at the original at 6414 N. Lamar!
- Tonie BoamanJune 5, 2013They DO have kids menus. If George is server he will tell you they don't so he can pad the check. Danny the manager fixed the situation food 3-4 out of 5 stars
