Truly one of Melbourne's best cultural institutions. The permanent exhibit 'screen worlds' is excellent, so many film festivals, and lets not forget the Cinematheque on Wednesday nights

Fantastic old fashioned cinema, showing new and classic movies in 35mm, 70mm, 2k and 4k. Fine films and atmosphere.
Cheap tickets on Mondays before 4, and they show several mainstream films too.

STEER CLEAR! The staff were very rude. Seemed like they didn't want to be there. Popcorn was cold and stale. What's worse is that the film started 15 minutes late! The Palace brand is very pretentious

One of the best venues in Melbourne. Great space and decor, plenty of space to stand or sit and you can feel a bit of history inside.

Never got the fuss over IMAX - till I saw a 3D film here - do it whenever possible!
Very expensive but worth it once in a while (choose your films carefully). Avoid the candy bar completely and sneak in your own food.

Worth getting a blanket just to be safe, might look fine before the film starts, but remember it's Melbourne and the weather can change instantly. Plus it's gets a little windy up there..

The visitor center was very helpful. There is also free wifi and plenty of seats if you need a rest.

Live music most nights of the week, with extremely danceable stuff on weekend nights. A cosy stage with an intimate feel to it. Drinks are fair priced. Definitely check out on a weekend for music.
Tuesday nights is the best improvised and experimental music in melbourne at the Make It Up Club.
