Rudy's is one of the best independent music shops in NYC. I purchased a mandolin from here. The customer service was great. The salesman really knew his stuff when it came to mandolins (rare).

It’s becoming harder to justify trawling through the city’s record stores. But for a dusty-fingered DJ dig, Academy has huge selections of everything and only good records make it to the floor.
