The summer evening tours on Friday nights beginning in May are less crowded and have a magical feel to them. The museums are overwhelming to take in on one visit, but the Sistine Chapel end is perfect
Incredibly crowded so you can't really stay and admire anything, instead you just go with the sea of people. Come with time since it's huge and buy the ticket with a tour so you skip the line
I would recommend skipping a tour for the museums and getting the audio guide instead. The museums are huge and the tour groups skip by so much amazing stuff!

Great collection, best to visit with a tour guide though. Limited english description for pieces. Few paintings/sculptures had audio option. You have to give your bag, but they wont take your jacket!

Opens at 7am. Aim to get there before 9am to avoid the queue. Nice and peaceful. Otherwise the tour groups and cruise ship tours start arriving ~9am.

Wonderful way to see Rome! I went at 5pm, with the heat I recommend that time. The bikes are very good. I tried the electric bike- it was very nice! Our guide was very sweet and knowledgeable!
