- Noah WeissNovember 26, 2014Come for the food, stay for the Angel Share quality Japanese cocktails. Great infused whiskeys and gins. Anything with egg whites tastes like a boozy milkshake.
- Noah WeissNovember 26, 2014Make your own tasting menu. The uni croquette with mushrooms was worth every $3 bite. The short rib sashimi was great too. Go heavy on appetizers and enjoy what feels like a Japanese living room.
- Marc SchneebergerJuly 16, 2017Its been the 12 time i go and i will keep doing. The short rib sashimi de foie gras soba and the washu beef steak makes me salivate while writing. The green tea sundae in the picture was great too! 🤤

- Yvette LiuJanuary 28, 2018Everything is great. Loving the speakeasy vibe, make sure to book. Their drinks is great, beef and branzino is a must. If u like cod, don't miss out their miso cod, much better than NOBU 💁🏻#1fave
- Maria RiabtchenkoNovember 26, 2017Amazing beef choices - short rib sashimi, steaks with a heaping amount of crispy potatoes, steak tartar. Don’t miss the ikura/sashimi bowl, uni croquettes, and miso cod if you’re a fish person.
- JamieAugust 15, 2015Loved the tartare and short rib sashimi. Get the sweet potatoes with your steak - they're fantastic. Great cocktails too!
- Celena ChanJune 12, 2015While the tasting menu can be tempting-- I would recommend ordering a la carte, since the tasting menu misses out on some of the gems (miso cod, foie gras soba, steak).
- refinery29August 3, 2014If you're able to get the phone number to this place, you're in for a treat. Tucked away in an old building previously owned by Andy Warhol, Bohemian triggers "look-what-I've-found" goosebumps. Read more
- Anna HyclakJune 26, 2013Take a date here (if you can find the secret phone # for reservations, shhhh) and share this fun fact over drinks: Jean-Michel Basquiat died of a drug overdose in the studio upstairs. Instant romance!
- Peter WuApril 5, 2015Learning about this place is only the first step. Get a referral by a prior diner to get in the door! Once you're in, the uni croquette and branzini are must-gets (and don't skip the cocktails!)
- Wendy QiuFebruary 6, 2015Tasting menu is the way to go! Branzino to share was fragrant with herbs and came on a sizzling skillet with potatoes/ cauliflower/ Brussels sprouts
- Christian BorgesSeptember 14, 2018Awesome dining experience. Food and atmosphere were fantastic, and the fact that it's so underground, in a "speakeasy" way makes it that much more of a cool experience, and keeps the crowd authentic.
- Martin S.September 7, 2015The food is exquisite. The steak is a little overpriced. But everything was delicious. The Bergamot cocktail was interesting and satisfying. Their mixology is on par.
- Sofia FigueroaApril 10, 2017Tasting menu & cocktails! Cool MCM furniture with a living room vibe. Check out the Japanese toilets, live late night guitar.
- My not-so-secret spot in NY to have a nice and relaxed dinner. Seats are too comfortable, which is great for me. Food is constantly amazing. Prices are ok+ for NY.
- Sandy CheungDecember 27, 2013Hidden gem in NYC! The washu beef was so tender and juicy, a pinch of sea salt enhances the wonderful flavour. They also do amazing cocktails, love the Type C. You will not be disappointed!
- Linda ChowJune 26, 2015Tasting menu was to die for! Very romantic and good for dates. A great dining experience. Loved the branzino and uni croquette the most. Will need to make reservations!
- S MMay 4, 2018Every single item we got was delicious! Short ribs sashimi and garlic shrimp are a must try! But it’s like you can’t go wrong with their menu
- Richard BOctober 3, 2017Fantastic invite-only Japanese-inspired restaurant behind a butcher shop. Highly recommend the uni croquette, cocktails, garlic shrimp and washu beef burgers.
- AditiMarch 22, 2018My favorites - beef tartar, tuna poke, double smoked bacon, mushroom risotto. The atmosphere is great and service INCREDIBLE.

- ZenFoodsterAugust 21, 2015Japanese fusion speak-easy w/ minimalist living room decor, skylight, & low chairs that squeak on polished, concrete floor in former home of Warhol & Basquiat's.
- Alison SAugust 27, 2013Everyone will tell you to order the sake panna cotta. While delicious, it's more "different" than "dessert." Order two scoops of the goat cheese and cherry ice cream instead. You WON'T regret it.
- GenaJune 20, 2016Don't miss the Uni croquettes, steak sampler, fondue, fried sweet potatoes & miso cod. Everything is spectacular.
- Benjamin PalmerNovember 23, 2016branzino like 1000%. uni croquette, *vegetable fondue*. if they have ichiro's malt you should have some.

- JasonAugust 22, 2014The tasting menu is reasonably priced and definitely a choice to consider if you are hungry and want to dazzle your taste buds. But keep in mind that other parties need to par take as well.
- Princess Abigail BacaniJanuary 23, 2013Tucked behind a butcher shop in a building previously owned by Andy Warhol, this hidden eatery isn't just hard to find - it's hard to get into. Authentic Japanese fare. Order the tasting menu.

- Yoni ZloczewskiFebruary 19, 2019Don't sleep on the Pork Loin it's secretly the best thing on the menu. The uni croquette is pretty tasty. The ambiance and service is top rate. Washu steak could have been prepared better
- Wen XueMay 16, 2017Beef sashimi is very good. Pan roasted branzino tasted good with simple seasoning and lots of herb aroma, though some bites could be a tad too dry. Uni croquette was a disappointment; don't order it!
- Hand carved ice ball for your Yamazaki on the rocks. Forego the tasting menu but don't forget to try the foie gras soba. Branzino perfect for sharing.

- Grace KwanJuly 31, 2016You have to know someone who's dined here to get a reservation. The environment is what's special here – it feels like you're dining in your super-hip Japanese friend's living room.
- Inna GMarch 12, 2017Mushroom risotto and miso cod was good. The restaurant is invite only and exclusive, but a bit overhyped. The drinks are nice and food served at a slower pace, which makes it enjoyable.
- Curtis ShoungJune 6, 2015So good. Did not want to like, type of place reservations are super hard to get, you need to call in and boom with a referral name... But damn it was tasty. Ended up at $100/pp.
- ZenFoodsterAugust 21, 2015Price point great 4 creative fare & portions. Star was Foie gras soba but w/ Svc & all else (uni croquette, veggie fondue, assorted sashimi rice "teacup," dbl smoked bacon, & burger), 9.2 fell short.
- Lori LuoAugust 10, 2014The phone number to make a reservation is passed down by word of mouth. The extra effort to get it is well worth it though, especially for the $58 tasting menu.
- Ranu RajkarnikarSeptember 17, 2014Love the cozy, living room vibe. Get the sliders, giant slab of bacon, uni croquettes, and save room for dessert.
- Bergdorf GoodmanDecember 11, 2013It's a BG New York City secret! Donald Oliver of J Brand loves this quiet, quaint Japanese restaurant, which he notes as one of the few secret places left in New York.
