Castles? In New York? Why, yes! These ruins are a must, built by the Bannerman family as warehouse facility for their military surplus business in 1901. Get there by boat or kayak, tours available.

Bannerman Island - Officially known as Pollepel Island, is the home of Bannerman's Castle. Walking tours are hosted by the Bannerman Castle Trust every weekend from May through October. Donations are desperately needed to help preserve the historic structures on the island, before they are lost.
