When the city of Tokyo donated a group of Japanese "sakura" cherry trees to the council of Rome, they were planted here, to line the avenue which is now called the "Passeggiata del Giappone"

Totally awesome and amazing historical site. It’s totally worth checking out the attached museum and sculpture gardens, they really enhance the experience. Humbling example of Roman architecture.
If you get lost on the grounds looking for the entrance to either of the museum's wings, you might find yourself at a lovely fountain or a storehouse of damaged artifacts. Nice bonus!
