Always a bit more crowded than I'd wish, but with reason. Incredible beer selection and tasty food like mussels w/frites. Never had a bad beer there, out of dozens I've tried.
The Mussels are excellent. Vegetarian Wellington and cauliflower salad are awesome.

French onion soup is rich and generously-portioned. Mussels are fresh and served in a buttery cream sauce. Mac and cheese side is also served very creamy. Very much feels like a quaint French cafe.

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago, and definitely the best French one here (since Il Sardine closed). Lots of gems in that wine list, and the mussels were incredible.

Great cocktails. The Belgian Style mussels were very good. Frites we're good as well, but they're more like steak cut fries than frites.

Don't overlook the mussels bc of the pork focus of the menu-- they are fantastic. Monks cafe is a great sour cherry beer they serve.

Amazing place! Food, design and the team working there. My recommendations steak tartar, fideo seco, pork pibil.. but you would not go wrong with other choices. It is a must try in Chicago!
