I love this park. However, it is very crowded during weekends with kids screaming, birthday parties on the grass and BBQ.. So, if you go for relaxing, avoid weekends.

The first place you'll want to park is the parking structure on Museum Way. Stay in the slow lane so you don't miss it.
Getting into the underground parking structure is an absolute pain to get into, at least when I was there. While they'll tell you it's strictly for LACMA, you can park there, anyway.
Free Latin jazz concerts Saturdays at 5 in the park during the summer. Bring a picnic and sit on the lawn. Great outdoor salsa dancing, too.
Please go and picnic at the museum park! Particularly on Friday evenings and saturday afternoons. Live free music and beautiful art! A great combination!

Try to park in the original parking lot instead of the Grove. We try to go early lunch to beat the crowds.

Don't park at The Grove. The Farmers Market stores can only validate your parking ticket if you are parked at The Farmers Market.
Park in the lot on Wilshire across from the pits. It's only $7 and doesn't get filled up as fast as the Tar Pits dedicated lot. Then grab some lunch at the nicest Marie Callendar's in the city.

There's no parking after 7pm anywhere around this park
Good bones but suffers from some neglect. There are homeless in tents across from the park. I had an awkward conversation with a guy by the handball court who bragged about how many guys he's shot.
Great place to play ball, plenty of courts, and I never have trouble finding an open court or game to join.
The cucumber marg is the standout on the cocktail list. The nachos are a silent killer as well. Normally only on the happy hour menu, but you can ask. Park in the whole foods lot for free 👌🏻
Ceviche toastaditas here are delicious! Meaty and crunchy with a good blance of spice and acidity.
Even if you don’t like flan, Mercado’s version is a must. The staff calls it “the best flan in the universe.”

Come early in the morning and late at night. Avoid store on Saturday. Great store. Impossibe to park.
