Free Latin jazz concerts Saturdays at 5 in the park during the summer. Bring a picnic and sit on the lawn. Great outdoor salsa dancing, too.
Try to park in the original parking lot instead of the Grove. We try to go early lunch to beat the crowds.
Park in the lot on Wilshire across from the pits. It's only $7 and doesn't get filled up as fast as the Tar Pits dedicated lot. Then grab some lunch at the nicest Marie Callendar's in the city.
