Kelsey L: Get the 7 salsas, ranging from mild to spicy!
AmateurConcierge: Empellon's high end offering is not for those on a budget. Sea bream was great. Downtowners will recognize familiar guac, salsa spread and some of the taco offerings
Eater: Dishes to try include falafel tacos with hummus, Hokkaido sea urchin on toast, pastrami tacos with mustard seed salsa, and tempura fish with lime mayo. There’s guacamole and the seven salsas, too. Read more.

Jonathan Payne: Steak and eggs were good. Could’ve used something tangy with it like a salsa, good coffees, pastries, smoothies. Nice atmosphere close to Central Park.
Paula Buzzo: Chicken with salsa verde is the best chicken that I ate in NYC!! Ask for the fried fingerling potatoes as a side.Friendly staff and good ambience.

jenny rock: Finally, authentic tacos! Carnitas tacos with Onions and Cilantro only. So good. And their green salsa on top is super delicious.
ZenFoodster: Guac too runny for my taste, chips are out of a bag, & quesadillas are ok. But the Carnitas taco (w/ the Salsa verde) is this hole-in-the-wall's shining star! Not cheap for a to-go only kiosk.
Ryan Aanerud: Tacos are great and the salsa is on point.

Nick H: Great burrito place - beats everything else in the area by miles. You can buy their sauces too.
Kristen Baxter: Carnitas burrito or tacos w/ all the fixin's is your best bet. Bowls tend to be bland despite having the same ingredients. For midtown, this is your best bet for anything close to Mexican/Cali-Mex food

Kevin Thompson: El Rey serves up some of the best Mexican food for lunch in the city. Can't go wrong with 3 tacos (al pastor &spicy pork personal favs). Otherwise the torta sandwich is delish and similarly satisfying

Vincent Better: Do NOT get the chips and salsa! Not a single piece of veggie in the sauce. Calamari is a far better look.
