- Great food, atmosphere, and the MOST friendly staff. So family friendly - we came with a screaming baby and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Will return for date night though, lol.
- Emily WilsonMarch 20, 2016Come hungry for an epic brunch in the coziest setting. The eggs benedict is spectacular, as are the housemade sausage links and potatoes with sour cream and jalapeño. A perfect birthday brunch spot.
- Joy ChenSeptember 19, 2016Delicious food in a cozy, rustic atmosphere. Got cocktails, charcuterie (good but on the small side), and Cast Iron Chicken (savory, vinegary) and Bluefish (fresh, herbal) for mains. All were great!
- Sandra RubinchikJuly 13, 2019The perfect outdoor spot to air out all your friend group drama over brunch. No one can hold a grudge after these grits, pancakes and cocktails. Except me. Because I’m always right.
- Eric FriedmanOctober 26, 2014The pappardelle with duck prosciutto is amazing - get one for the table. The chicken is fantastic, but be sure to order some sides. All 3 sides are great but possibly double up on the Brussel sprouts
- Eric HinesFebruary 20, 2016Been twice now and the food is a treat, very clean, fresh and most importantly tasty. The food definitely takes center stage. Service is sub-par...they do nothing to enhance the dining experience
- NinaJuly 31, 2013Loved the food and feel of the resto. I got the bacon side (in the picture) and the famous pork chop! Really delicious. A friend got the lamb neck and that was incredible. I'll get it next time.
- Nicholas DoyleOctober 6, 2013The Eggs Benedict are the best I've ever had. The confluence of smoked river trout, wood fired house made English muffins, impeccable Hollandaise and a perfectly poached egg is peerless.
- Gretta HehreMarch 10, 2019The pancake is seriously amazing. Small is the perfect size for a taste while also giving yourself a chance to try other delicious dishes.
- Nick LosiJanuary 14, 2017Especially fun to take visitors on a walk from Dumbo through Vinegar Hill before. They get confused walking through industrial blocks only to stumble on such a cozy gem.
- The Food SlutsJune 26, 2012A rustic, relaxing gem. Delicious, reasonable food and a great excuse to escape Manhattan. We loved the stuffed squid with braised oxtail ($12) and the gorgeous salted caramel custard ($8). Read more
- Eric TashAugust 2, 2014Came here for brunch. Everything was superb. The eggs Benedict and Bloody Mary were sublime. The strawberry pancake made me see heaven. A little far from the subway but well worth the trek.
- Jordan DonatiAugust 28, 2017One of the best breakfasts I have had in New York. We shared a large pancake, it was perfection. I had an omelette that was light and fluffy. + Outdoor quaint seating.
- Steven Van CampenhoutSeptember 16, 2015The risotto with sweet corn and eggplant is great, the ricotta-polenta cake with peaches and camomile tea ice cream is to die for! Cosy interior, friendly service and reasonably priced!
- Susan ClaxtonJuly 11, 2015Great cocktails. Great farm to table food. Lovely garden. I still dream about the pate. Homemade pasta and brisket were both exquisite.
- Jason FeldmanJuly 13, 2013The brunch selection is original with fresh, unique twists. Portion sizes are perfect and you leave feeling extremely satisfied without breaking the bank. I suggest ordering a few items and sharing.
- TinoMay 2, 2018Hidden gem in a pretty boring neighborhood. The food is brilliant - octopus, beetroot and caulifower were all really tasty.
- Kayleigh HarringtonJanuary 25, 2017Are you nearby? Go! Order the pancakes (even if you think you don't like pancakes) and the fennel sausage. Also unlimited stumptown coffee 🙌
- Super charming restaurant, food is so good. A teeny bit pricey, but totally worth it. A favorite spot for sure.
- Brunch is amazing. Bloody Mary, pear pancake, burger, shrimp and grits. Went for dinner and was blown away by the chicken liver pâté, the squab, and the delicata squash. Incredible.
- Paras ShahFebruary 9, 2014Dinner was delicious. While the pork chop was highly recommended, several of us actually like the Cast Iron Chicken better. Also, the Chicken liver Mousse and Smashed Potatoes were delicious.
- Zahid ZamanSeptember 9, 2012Delicious, simple, elegant out of the way gem waiting to be discovered. Food wait times can get lengthy but sipping a cocktail or coffee in the cozy backyard makes it worth your while!
- Matthew KamenJuly 15, 2017Awesome and very literal pancake. Cooked in a cast iron pan in a wood fire stove. Part cake, part sour dough bread, part pancake. Strong brunch.
- Alex HennesseyJune 23, 2014Pretty much perfect. The GREATEST chicken liver mousse, the chop, the chicken (really), the pastrami. The mushrooms and the cornbread on the side. Already want to go back.
- New to the dessert menu: carrot cake with cream cheese ice cream (not frosting) and some salty pumpkin seed goodness that will blow your mind. Highly recommended.
- Jen ChnJanuary 24, 2014Nice and cozy restaurant in the middle of Vinegar Hill. The chicken is amazing. And try the grapefruit cremeux, one of the best desert I ever ordered in a restaurant!!
- Geoffrey HaratykNovember 12, 2022Intimate setting. Menu has classics but with twists. Loved everything (thyme cocktail, vinegar chicken, smoked grape salad, garlic pasta). Maybe you can skip dessert which was just ok.
- Justin WohlstadterSeptember 13, 2014The lox is some of the best I've had - rivaling Russ & Daughters. It's cured in house in bourbon and beets. Also, the pancakes are not to be missed.
- Dana SterlingDecember 20, 2014From end to end the menu is amazing. We had sourdough pancakes bloody Mary's eggs Benedict biscuits and gravy and coffee. Well be here again soon
- Ray LinJanuary 15, 2013The walk from gentrified Dumbo to quasi-colonial Vinegar Hill is a bit trippy, and it's as if they actually perfected the legendary Country Chop over centuries. Best pork chop I ever ate.
- MarisaOctober 16, 2011Sourdough Pear Pancake with pecan-bourbon sauce was sooo good! Looking forward to going back for the Hot Dog de Sonora, which they were out of (hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep-fried...oooooohhhhh!)
- Fodor's TravelSeptember 9, 2015Word gets out about a scene this good, so the wait for one of the 40 tables can be considerable, particularly during weekend brunch. Bide your time at the cozy bar. Read more
- Mark MunroOctober 21, 2016The roast chicken is one of the best I've had in my life. It's on par or better than Zuni Cafe's in San Francisco.
- Amazing brunch. Two words: sourdough pancakes. Also, enjoy a La Colombe brew. #winning
- Erika PerziOctober 21, 2013The smoked trout eggs benedict is memorable and their Bloody Marys are tasty; the pear pancakes looked popular and would be a must try next round.
- Cole SigmonJune 12, 2014Had a reservation, got in right on time. Food was some if the best I've ever had. Wine list and cocktails are great as well. A++
- Abbie WAugust 8, 2014R29: Sourdough pancakes...The rustic interior is super cozy, garden out back feels like you're tucked far away from the rest of the world.
- Adrienne SMay 9, 2012Awesome find. Brunch here was epic. The sourdough blueberry pancake was a great combo of sweet and savory. And the garden is to die for. (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
- FoodspottingDecember 11, 2010The cream cheese-frosted Guinness cakes are rich and so delicious. They follow a dinner of quail eggs and hearty meats nicely. This is comfort food at its best, so indulge! - Soraya
- Courtney BoltonApril 10, 2014Excellence, plus + fancy silver flatware! and a pretty, romantic alcove backyard eating area
- Maria KFebruary 17, 2017Get the Squash starter! So decadent, melts in your mouth, and the combination of hazelnut and blue cheese is surprisingly good!
- CharlottesJune 13, 2017Lovely little courtyard and pancake to die for. Just don't expect a warm welcome, though the staff did eventually warm up.
- ShahSeptember 12, 2014An absolutely gorgeous spot with absolutely gorgeous food (I still have marrow dreams) that gives Vinegar Hill a good name.
- So they have a new pastry chef as of a few months ago, and she's a genius. Maybe the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had.
- Gianna NebbiaNovember 14, 2020The chicken is out of control. Blown away by the combination of simplicity and flavor. Lovely service also
- Jenny W.October 27, 2013Eggs Benedict with smoked trout are the best EB I've had. Also excellent: shrimp and grits and pear pancake, Yums!
- Andy B.January 19, 2015Let the bartender give you a custom take on an old favorite. Example: an Old Fashion made with tequila and mescal!
- Nils MoellerJune 29, 2013They now take reservations which is handy because it's so popular and always busy in spite of its slightly remote yet lovely location.
