In 1995, Nilda de la Llata opened El Sol y La Luna on South Congress with the vision of a family friendly restaurant serving fresh, interior Mexican cuisine, as well as a community hub for live music, cultural arts, and special events...
Mojarra frita for the win!
The quesadillas with beef fajita meat are unreal good.
The beef quesadilla was delicious!
I liked this restaurant very much! My camarones a la diabla were soooo delicious and extra spicy, just the way I like. I recommend the enmoladas too and my Margarita was fabulous.
If you are looking for that Mexican taste, this is the place, even with local ingredients it's pretty close. I loved shrimp besos and they have Mezcaaaal. I will be back to taste the Pozole.
Great food! Items from breakfast/brunch menu are available until 4pm (in addition to lunch & dinner menu items).
Took over an hour to get our food, which was mediocre at best. And while I waited, I had 4 margaritas and barely got a buzz.
The Mexican creme caramel (I think its a mexican flan on the menu) is TO DIE FOR. You won't regret it ;) Totally unexpected awesome.
beat guac in town big portions!
Worst service - had to request ice every time for my drink, got my order wrong, there were bones in my chicken enchiladas, and took foreverrrr to get my ticket or pay.
Come here now! Tamales 'nuff said.
The staff can be good but sometimes its not
It was mediocre when on congress, now it is crap on red river
Yummy food and hallie is awesome
Queso is ultra cheesy nom nom
Try the Bloody Beer - #sxsw #Nomnom w/ @thisislars @willstaney
Take anything that has the words 'chef', 'luna' or 'sol' in it!
The food is good. The mimosa pitcher is better.
My downtown Tex-Mex breakfast place since the tragic closing of Las Manitas Avenue Cafe. There's better Text-Mex in Austin, but none as close to Hilton, Hampton, and Convention Center.
Great food tacos are good burritos are great there service is good
Worst service of my life. I've never written a bad review about anywhere but felt so compelled tonight since this was, as mentioned the worst service of my life. The waiter DGAFed our existence.
A lot nicer on the inside!
So wonderful and fresh, great parking at 11 a.m
The enchiladas verde has a subtly sweet sauce that marries well with chicken. Be warned, a talented but very loud band plays some dinnertimes. —WC http://bit.ly/NlI3mX
Cool live music, I'm diggin' the vibes!
A good spot to grab your obligatory breakfast taco during SXSW.
Worst tex mex in Austin and over priced. If this is what you call authentic then rose tint my world to keep me safe from the trouble and pain.
Ridiculously good margaritas
The huevos con chorizo and French pressed Oaxacan coffee rock.
Dinner with @baldmansam and @chefcallie
Very good tequila shots
The guacamole is lacking a little, ask for it a little spicey
The migas are a great choice for breakfast
Warm beer. Cold soup.

Come here for some real Texas Mexican food and some great shows! Check out do512.com to see what's up here at SXSW
The shittiest service and water down drinks. Wouldn't send my worst enemy here.
Love the ceviche!
Live mariachi music on Fridays from 8-10p!
The posole on weekends is good - order on Sunday afternoon & listen to live music, leisurely...
Overpriced and sangria sucked!
The best breakfast ever: Huevos con Chorizo. Do it.
The Pork Chipotle Enchilada was the best I've ever eaten!
The potato egg & cheese taco on the a la carte menu is perfect. And only $2.50!
creepy paintings everywhere.
Check out the live music Sundays at noon.
The Happy Hour is great. All Day Tuesday - Thursday
