1. ナンジャタウン (Namjatown)
Jon Steinback: This food theme park is hilarious and bizarre. It's in the Sunshine City building near Ikebukuru. 300 yen (~$3)
2. 森美術館 (Mori Art Museum)
Jon Steinback: Has the best view of the city (in addition to the art). Go on a clear day.
3. 江戸東京博物館 (Edo-Tokyo Museum)
4. 上野動物園 (Ueno Zoo)
Jon Steinback: Not a bad zoo, if you like zoos.
5. 秋葉原 (Akihabara)
Jon Steinback: The gadget shops around Akihabara are pretty stunning. Be aware that most of them sell racks of porn as well.
6. 浅草寺 (Sensō-ji Temple)
Jon Steinback: Pretty impressive, but heavily touristed. Try for odd hours.
7. 代々木公園 (Yoyogi Park)
Jon Steinback: On a Sunday, swing through and see the Dancing Elvises (Elvi?) and wander down towards the Harajuku entrance from some Harajuku girls. Good Okonomiyaki from street vendors, too!
8. 代々木公園 ドッグラン (Yoyogi Park Dog Run)
Jon Steinback: Seriously, the best everyday dog costume show you'll see in your life.
9. 皇居 (Imperial Palace)
Jon Steinback: Standing just right, you can catch a sliver of the palace.
10. 明治神宮 (Meiji Jingu Shrine)
Jon Steinback: Go on a weekday day! There is nobody there and it's quite fantastic.
11. 日本科学未来館 (Miraikan)
Jon Steinback: This museum is kind of amazing for anyone who likes science, space, or has a general curiosity about life.
12. 自由の女神像 (Odaiba Statue Of Liberty)
Jon Steinback: yeah. it's weird.
13. タイトーステーション 新宿南口ゲームワールド店
Jon Steinback: Doesn't have to be this one, but go to an arcade. And do the photo booths. They're amazing.
14. 三鷹の森 ジブリ美術館 (Ghibli Museum)
Jon Steinback: Maybe one of the happiest places on Earth. Buy a ticket at the kiosks at AM/PM the same day, but have a Japanese person help you; there is no English UI.
15. 権八 西麻布店
Jon Steinback: This place inspired the big fight scene in Kill Bill. Really good food, especially soba.
16. 猫カフェ きゃりこ 新宿店
Jon Steinback: If you like cats, there are some cat cafes ("neko no mise") where you get a coffee or soda and get to play with cats for a while.
17. 東急ハンズ 池袋店
Jon Steinback: This Tokyu Hands has a cat cafe on the 8th floor. And it's a pretty bizarre store.
18. 築地市場 (Tsukiji Fish Market)
Jon Steinback: Go at the crack of dawn (like a bit before 5.30am) any day for the tuna auction, get a bowl of tuna sashimi at a stall, and then go take a nap at the hamarikyu botanical gardens nearby.
19. 浜離宮恩賜庭園 (Hamarikyu Garden)
Jon Steinback: After you've seen the tuna auctions at Tsukiji, wander over here as it opens and get the garden all to yourself. Take a nap in the middle of it.
20. 地中美術館 (Chichu Art Museum)
Jon Steinback: Perhaps my favorite museum in the world.
21. 宮ノ浦港 (Miyanoura Port)
Jon Steinback: One of the best things to do in Japan, and nobody goes. Head to the island of Naoshima. It's a two-day trip. It's an arts colony. It's amazing. Really.
22. ファミリーマート 日土地西新宿ビル店
Jon Steinback: Go to any 7-11 or AM/PM or anything and get onigiri balls (they're 100 yen (~$1) and delicious, fresh, and ingeniously packaged). And try a new strange drink every day you're there.
23. Shinjuku Terrace City
Jon Steinback: The line for the Krispy Kreme donuts here regularly snakes out the door. So, if you want one, go nuts.
24. MARIAGE FRERES 恵比寿三越店
Jon Steinback: Great French tea.
25. Park Hyatt Tokyo
Jess Barron: Check out the New York Bar on the 52nd floor, featured in the movie "Lost in Translation."There are great city views &an excellent live jazz band, just like in the film. Also, try the L.I.T. Cocktail.
26. 井の頭恩賜公園 (Inokashira Park)
Jon Steinback: A bit out of the way for non-locals, but quite serene and wonderful.

Jon Steinback: The late-night place for food. Open super late. Also, take a look at the incredibly sexual decorations.
28. 平禄寿司 表参道店
Jon Steinback: Great kaiten sushi close to Yoyogi Park. Head up and grab what you want straight off the conveyor belt. It adds up quickly, though.
Jon Steinback: Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant. Kind of ridiculous.

Jon Steinback: Great view of Fuji-san on a nice day. And it's free on the 45th floor.

Jon Steinback: Huge and cool building, with occasional good shows!
Jon Steinback: They often have amazing small art shows here. Changes often.
34. 東京都写真美術館 (Tokyo Met. Museum of Photography)
Jon Steinback: Nice museum, and the Museum of Yebisu Beer is right next door. Hit them both.
35. 鉄道博物館 (THE RAILWAY MUSEUM)
Jon Steinback: There are interactive train-driving stations! But let the kids try it first.
36. 東京オペラシティ (Tokyo Opera City)
Jon Steinback: Often great art exhibits here.
37. Christon Cafe
Jon Steinback: A christianity-themed restaurant. From papal garb to theme drinks. Amazing.
Jon Steinback: Really gorgeous place to wander.
39. 洪隠山 西芳寺（苔寺）
Jon Steinback: Such an incredible Buddhist Temple. It has like a million types of moss, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
40. 北山 鹿苑寺 (金閣寺) (Kinkaku-Ji Temple)
Jon Steinback: It's gold! (mostly)
41. 伏見稲荷大社 (Fushimi-Inari-Taisha Shrine)
Jon Steinback: Wear bright orange to blend in! Also, climb all the way to the top.
42. 厳島神社 (Itsukushima-jinja Shrine)
Jon Steinback: Hike around the island as much as possible (including all the way to the top). Feed the deer. Find some monkeys. Watch the sun set over the gate.
43. 平和記念公園 (Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park)

Jon Steinback: Japanese people will remind you that's it's 13m taller than the Eiffel Tower. Take that, France!

Jon Steinback: Enter the Great Buddha. Also, awesome day-trip from Tokyo. Great restaurants around.

Dens: Long story short: My buddy said this was the best pizza in the world. I doubted him. I was wrong. Best pizza I've ever had. Get the margarita pizza, skip the marinara. You need the cheese.

Dens: This is the owl cafe of your dreams! All the owls you can pet for the low low price of ¥1500! (a bit tricky to find, follow the map) ps: Don't pet their bellys or they bite!
