As a New Yorker, I could not recommend a better location for a gateway to the city. Near every neighborhood downtown with quick access to trains. Nice roof top. Clean rooms. Great common room.

Good place if you want to crash for one night. It can be noisy, you have to share the bathroom with other guests. But it's perfectly located and everything is in good condition.

These rooms do not have ceilings. In addition to hearing the sound of 30 other people sleeping you can also see light from neighboring "rooms". Earplugs and an eye mask are a must.

Caffe Bristot espresso starting at 7am, and a menu with porchetta sandwiches, various panini, a three-cheese pizza, and house specialties like a slow-cooked pork cheek. Read more

This is like when you went to camp - but instead of cabins it's a room with 3 sets of bunk beds - the top is the best. However you have to walk up 3 flights of stairs to even get into the place.

It would be nice if the web site says something about not having an elevator, but the staff is amazing and really helpful 😊

It’s ok if you’re not too picky and want to spend your money on other than a bed for the night. Even with earplugs it’s noisy and there is only one bathroom for women and one for men. Lots of stairs.

Try the room with a window and a bit more room - well worth it. Wonderful affordable place to crash with friendly folk

Affordable and clean. Cabins have an open ceiling and you can hear everything your neighbour is doing. Worse on the weekends!

Some rooms may lack en-suite bathrooms, but Ralph Lauren towels, heated bathroom floors, and Red Flower bath products go a long way to make up for it. Read more

A place made only to carry backpacks... There's no lift and stairs... MANY STAIRS... But, there's a good place...

Awesome music selection. Good mix of 80s and 90s hits.

Not sure why people are defending this place. My guess is that they are unaware of private rooms via airbnb. Where you get a ceiling and dont have to hear people going to the bathroom all night

Showers are busiest at around 10:00am. Don't forget to bring your lock if you want to use a locker.

Not bad. Location great. Clean and safe. Although the 69 fare room is a too small. The rest works ..

Anybody complaining about this hostel is an idiot. It's clean, it's in a great area, and you get your own space for under $50. Best value accomodation in NYC, end of story.

Horrible stay. I paid 147 dollars for one night. Room was so small i couldnt even open my suitcase. The ladies toilet flush was broken and i had to use male bathroom. No breakfast. Broken toilet

You get one towel, & they're only changed every six days so bring an extra. The showerheads are directly above so if you don't want wet hair bring a shower cap. A bathrobe & flip flops are a must.

You know what? You get what you pay for. $68/night for a private room in Manhattan could be a lot worse. Super-clean, friendly and great location. Yes it's loud. They give you earplugs for a reason.
