Terrible to get out, impossible to catch a uber, no trains or subway. Better if you take the shuttle bus to get a taxi. Crowded and disorganized.

Ask for your livery cab driver to pick you up upstairs instead of downstairs to avoid traffic
There is nothing good to eat inside security at the central terminal, but there's an extensive food court before security. If you're hungry, eat first, security second.
Make sure to check the terminal you're in when you tell the driver. I was flying delta and just told the cab driver "delta"...he took me to a delta terminal but there are THREE delta terminals at LGA.
These new charging stations are sanity savers although none in the food court wouldn't charge my iphone but the ones at the welcome center would.
If you bought liquor/liquids at an int'l airport & have a connecting flight in the US, put it in your checked luggage when you claim it! You go thru security again and they will take it if you don't.
New express security screening is very fast and easy. You keep all clothes and shoes on!
To get to the city, take the supershuttle or train. Supershuttle is only $14 to take you anywhere in Manhattan

Get free wifi by sitting on the floor near the Sky Club and connecting to "tmobile" and selecting guest on splash screen!
The Delta terminal was renovated in Aug/Sept 2010, which greatly improved the food scene. Try the veggie omelette at Prime Tavern.

Delta terminal C actually makes this place feel like a modern airport, as opposed to everything else trapped in 1968.

Watch out for Central Terminal, concourse B (airtran). It is the shittiest concourse I have seen in my life. Don't miss the wall of rust in the mens room.

This airport always has problems with arrivals and gates! Expect to remain seated inside the plane for a while until another plane takes off and clears a gate.

When going home there is almost never a reason to take Midtown Tunnel in a cab...Always avoid it. You end up tipping on the total which includes the needless toll.
Grab something half decent to eat at Au Bon Pain in the American terminal before you go through security.

The reconstruction has reduced parking spaces. Take a cab or, better yet, another airport.
Melania SpagnoliDecember 9, 2014I hate this airport. If you need to take the shuttle to the Budget car rental just pray for it to come and pick you up. I had to wait 1 hour and in the end I took a taxi!!
The only airport I've been that security actually check your luggage receipt before you leave the baggage claim area!
If your looking for some really solid cuisine, Auntie Annes has a great selection of pretzels that are guaranteed to make your LDLs increase.
